Hair botox treatment in Pakistan: what is really in it, salon prices, the BK Botox kit, formaldehyde checks and the aftercare that makes it last.
Your hair takes forty minutes to blow-dry, puffs up the moment you step outside in humid weather, and still looks dull by the second day. Somebody at the salon suggests "hair botox", quotes a price, and promises glossy hair for weeks. Before you book it, it helps to know what is actually going on your head, what it costs, and how to stop the result washing out in a fortnight.
This guide covers what hair botox treatment really is, what Pakistani salons charge, what the at-home kit route looks like, the safety questions worth asking, and the aftercare that makes the money last.
What hair botox treatment actually is
The name is borrowed. Real Botox is an injection of botulinum toxin that relaxes muscles, used for wrinkles and conditions such as migraines and overactive bladder, as Cleveland Clinic explains. Nothing is injected in a hair botox service, and the ingredient list of the kit we stock contains no botulinum toxin at all.
What you get instead is a heat-sealed smoothing treatment. In practice it sits very close to a keratin treatment: the hair is washed with a clarifying shampoo, coated with a conditioning and smoothing formula, blow-dried and then sealed with a flat iron. The BK Botox kit we sell is itself labelled a Brazilian keratin hair treatment.
So when a salon offers "botox" and "keratin" side by side, ask what product each one uses. Often the difference is the brand of formula and how much straightening it gives, rather than a completely different chemistry.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
A good match if your hair is
- Frizzy or puffy, especially in monsoon humidity
- Wavy or curly and you want it smoother and quicker to style for a few weeks
- Dull and rough on the lengths, but not snapping off
Think twice if you are
- Pregnant. Cleveland Clinic says keratin treatments are not recommended during pregnancy, and the BK label asks you to check with a doctor first.
- Prone to allergic contact dermatitis or sensitive skin. The same Cleveland Clinic article advises extra caution and fragrance-free formulas where possible. The BK formula contains fragrance and several listed fragrance allergens, including cinnamal, eugenol and coumarin.
- Dealing with hair fall rather than frizz. Smoothing makes hair look better; it does nothing for shedding from the root. Our hair fall guide is the better starting point.
Hair botox price in Pakistan
Salon prices swing with hair length and thickness, because longer, denser hair uses more product and more ironing time. Genesis Dermatology in Lahore publishes a range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 for a botox hair treatment, checked in September 2026. A Karachi salon we checked does not print a price for keratin-type services and quotes per head over WhatsApp instead.
The other route is buying a professional kit and having it applied by a stylist you trust, or by someone at home who already does keratin treatments. How the BK Botox kit is used, step by step
These are the maker's directions as printed on our product page, paraphrased. Read them in full before starting, and wear gloves.
- Clarify. Wash the hair twice with No. 1 Clarifying Shampoo, rinse, and blow-dry it completely.
- Apply. Shake No. 2 Keratin Smoothing Treatment and comb it through thin sections with a fine-tooth comb until each is coated but not dripping. Keep it off the scalp and away from the eyes.
- Wait. About 15 minutes on coloured or damaged hair, up to 25 minutes on untreated hair.
- Dry. Blow-dry to about 90% dry.
- Seal. Flat iron thin sections from the nape upwards, 5 to 7 passes each (7 to 10 on very curly hair), at 230°C, or around 210°C on coloured or damaged hair.
- Finish. Rinse with warm water and apply No. 3 Deep Moisturizing Conditioner.
If anyone in the room feels eye, nose or throat irritation, stop. That leads to the question everyone should ask before any smoothing service.
The formaldehyde question
Many smoothing formulas contain formaldehyde or ingredients that release it when heated. Cleveland Clinic lists what the fumes can cause: watery eyes, coughing, wheezing, skin irritation and burning in the eyes, nose and throat. Its dermatologist also notes that formaldehyde-free formulas tend not to work as well, so the trade-off is real.
Labels are not always reliable. A 2026 scoping review of chemical straighteners found that keratin treatments more often contained formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives than relaxers did. It also describes testing in South Africa where five of seven products labelled formaldehyde-free still contained formaldehyde, at 0.17% to 1.4%.
The people most exposed are salon workers who do these services all day. A 2026 study of 41 salon workers who regularly performed keratin treatments found their lung function readings were significantly lower than predicted norms.
What to check before you book
- Ask to see the bottle and its ingredient list. Words to look for include formaldehyde, formalin and methylene glycol.
- The ingredient list for the BK kit on our page names no formaldehyde, formalin, methylene glycol or glyoxylic acid. It is still a high-heat chemical service, so treat ventilation as non-negotiable.
- Choose a salon that keeps a window open or a fan running during the ironing step, and do not sit in a closed cubicle.
- If your eyes water or your throat burns partway through, say so. That is a reason to stop, not to push through.
How long results last
Pakistani sellers generally quote about 4 to 6 weeks for BK Botox, and Genesis Dermatology suggests some people keep smooth hair for up to 3 to 4 months. Cleveland Clinic says a keratin treatment can last around six months if you do not wash too often. The honest answer is that washing frequency and your shampoo decide most of it.

Aftercare that makes it last
1. Switch to a sulfate-free shampoo

2. Wash less often
Cleveland Clinic suggests cutting down on shampoo days after a keratin treatment, and waiting a few days before the first wash when the formula allows it. With the BK kit the rinse is part of the service itself, so follow your stylist's instructions for that product.
3. Protect the lengths from heat

It can make frizzy hair far easier to manage for a few weeks, and a kit route like BK Botox brings the cost down if you have someone skilled to apply it. Check the ingredient list, insist on ventilation and skip it during pregnancy.
Then switch to a sulfate-free shampoo the same week, because your washing routine decides most of how long the shine lasts.
