Best Vitamin D Tablets in Pakistan (2026): Doses, Prices and When to Test

Vitamin D deficiency is the most common nutritional problem in Pakistan. Studies across Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad put deficiency between 60 and 80 percent of adults, and it is just as common in sunny cities, because clothing, indoor work and air pollution block the UVB that skin needs. If you have unexplained bone aches, low mood, frequent colds or fatigue, this is the first blood test worth doing. Here is how to choose a tablet once you know you need one.

D3 or D2, tablet or injection

Buy D3 (cholecalciferol). It raises blood levels better than D2 and is what nearly all research uses. Tablets and softgels work equally well when taken with food. Injections exist for severe deficiency but need a doctor; do not start there.

What dose makes sense

Maintenance, no known deficiency: 1,000 to 2,000 IU daily is the standard adult range.

Confirmed deficiency: doctors in Pakistan commonly prescribe 50,000 IU weekly for 8 weeks, then a maintenance dose. A high-strength tablet such as 10,000 IU covers this pattern taken less often, for example twice a week for maintenance, but agree the schedule with your doctor.

The K2 pairing: vitamin K2 directs the calcium that D3 helps you absorb toward bones rather than arteries. Formulas that combine D3 with K2 are a sensible default if you take vitamin D long term.

Vitamin D is fat soluble and builds up. Do not take 10,000 IU daily for months without testing; toxicity is rare but real.

Our picks for 2026

Best overall: Vit KD (D3 10,000 IU + K2), Rs 870

Vit KD pairs a high-strength 10,000 IU D3 dose with K2, which makes it flexible: twice a week as maintenance for most adults, or more frequently during a doctor-supervised correction phase. One pack lasts months at maintenance frequency, which makes the per-dose cost among the lowest available.

Best with calcium: CALIN-G, Rs 420

CALIN-G combines calcium with D3 for the classic bone-support pairing. The right pick for post-menopausal women and anyone whose doctor has flagged bone density, since D3 without dietary calcium only solves half the problem. Our calcium guide covers timing and doses.

How to take vitamin D properly

Take it with the day's fattiest meal; absorption of a fat-soluble vitamin on an empty stomach is poor. Morning versus evening makes no practical difference. Pair long-term D3 with magnesium-rich foods or a magnesium supplement, because magnesium is required to activate vitamin D in the body.

When to test

A 25-OH vitamin D test costs Rs 2,500 to 4,500 at major Pakistani labs. Test before starting if you can, and re-test after 3 months of supplementing. Below 20 ng/mL is deficient, 20 to 30 is insufficient, 30 to 50 is the range to aim for. Chasing levels above 60 has no proven benefit.

Frequently asked questions

Which vitamin D tablet is best in Pakistan?

Vit KD at Rs 870 is the best all-rounder: high-strength D3 with K2, flexible dosing, very low cost per dose. If your doctor wants calcium alongside, CALIN-G at Rs 420 pairs the two.

How much vitamin D should I take daily?

1,000 to 2,000 IU daily for maintenance. A confirmed deficiency needs a correction course, commonly 50,000 IU weekly for 8 weeks, set by a doctor and confirmed with a re-test.

Can I take 10,000 IU of vitamin D daily?

Not indefinitely without testing. 10,000 IU works well taken twice a week for maintenance, or short term during correction. Daily 10,000 IU for months risks excess, since vitamin D accumulates.

What are symptoms of low vitamin D?

Bone and lower back aches, muscle weakness, fatigue, low mood, frequent infections and slow recovery. The symptoms are vague, which is why a blood test beats guessing.

Should vitamin D be taken with K2?

It is a sensible pairing for long-term use. K2 helps route absorbed calcium to bones. This is why combined D3+K2 formulas like Vit KD exist.
