The Ordinary took the natural moisturising factors from its well-known face moisturiser and put them into a scalp serum. It is a thin, milky lotion of amino acids, PCA, lactates and hyaluronic acid, with a little squalane for softness. It is meant to ease the discomfort of a dry scalp and support the scalp barrier. The Ordinary lists it as oil-free, silicone-free and alcohol-free, and there is no added fragrance.

It suits anyone whose scalp feels tight after washing, or dries out in winter or with hard water. It is a hydration step, not a dandruff or hair-fall treatment: keep using an anti-dandruff shampoo such as CeraVe's if you have flakes. If you already use The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density, the two can share a routine; apply one, let it dry, then the other.

How to Use

Shake well. Part clean, dry hair and massage a few drops into the scalp once a day, ideally at bedtime. Leave it in and do not wash it out. Patch test before first use and stop if irritation appears. Keep away from the eyes.

Will it make my hair oily?
No. It is a light, water-based serum and The Ordinary lists it as oil-free and silicone-free. Apply it at night and style as normal in the morning.
